Theme of the Month
Every month we will be having an active travel related theme to help keep you motivated and hopefully give you really useful information. Themes can range from a focus on public transport to cycling with children and every month they will coincide with a national event.
October - Public Transport
Walking or cycling to the bus stop or train station is an active travel sandwich with a good read, listen to music, or eavesdropping on others conversations in between. If you want a bit more exercise, consider walking to or from the bus stop after or before your usual stop.
Buses are really a great big car share but with your own chauffeur. And, of course, on a bus you can experience all those bus lanes perfectly legally, overtaking all that other queuing traffic. And on the environmental side, commuting by bus instead of driving 4 miles to and from work could save 688kg of carbon dioxide a year – about the same as double-glazing your home.
